Plot (spoilers: moderate)
Why the White Scars are not “loyalists straight away”: Chondax, the brothers’ dispute, the Khan’s choice against slavery to the warp. Without this book the “Path of Heaven” arrow on the map looks predestined. This is a novel about a decision, not about a battle.
Events in the book
- Chondax Campaign Begins Inconclusive
Immediately after the Triumph on Ullanor the White Scars were sent to cleanse the Chondax system of the orks who had fled the empire of Urlakk Urg.
- Chondax Campaign Concludes Pyrrhic loyalist victory
Having at last cleansed Chondax of orks, the White Scars found their path of retreat blocked by an Alpha Legion fleet.
