Artellus Numeon — Terran First Captain of the Firedrakes, equerry of Vulkan and commander of the elite seven of the Pyre Guard, the primarch’s honour guard. He survived the Drop Site Massacre on Isstvan V, where the Salamanders were almost wiped out, and became Legion Master and the spiritual symbol of the Salamanders in the dark months when Vulkan was believed dead, leading a campaign to return the primarch’s body to Nocturne.

Fate
Tore off his insignia of rank and his armour and threw himself into the flames of Mount Deathfire; although he never rejoined the primarch, his sacrifice helped bring Vulkan back to life.
