Merir Astelan

Merir Astelan — a Terra-born commander of an order of the I Legion, one of the first five thousand of the intake and one of the oldest living Astartes of the Heresy. Sent away to Caliban — which he regarded as exile — he led the planetary defence and at the decisive hour chose Luther rather than the primarch. His testimony, given in captivity ten thousand years later, still unsettles the interrogators of the order: he tells of the early Dark Angels what is absent from their official history.
