Macer Varren

Macer Varren — captain of the 12th Company of the World Eaters who remained loyal to the Emperor when his Legion betrayed him. When he refused to follow the treason, Angron sent men to kill his personal guard; Varren escaped from the Isstvan system aboard a captured frigate, the Dagger Line, like Garro on the Eisenstein. Nathaniel Garro recruited him into the Knights-Errant.

Died in the battle at the White Mountain on Terra (~013.M31), shortly before the Siege: possessed by a daemon, he regained control just long enough to tear the grenades from Loken’s armour and blow himself up, choosing death over serving the daemon.
