Ordo Reductor

Ordo Reductor is the military arm of the Mechanicum concerned with siege warfare and the forbidden weapons of a bygone age. Their brethren of the Machine Cult call them the “Bearers of Blessed Ruin”: the sacred role of the order is to dismantle, break and bring down. In the Great Crusade and the Heresy the covenants of Reductor were attached to legions and went to the same side as their legion — hence the order found itself on both sides of the war.

Military covenants of siege specialisation: Thallax cybernetic shock infantry, siege automata, weapons salvaged from Dark Age graveyards. A loyalist/traitor split, but the majority of covenants remained with Terra.

Fate

It split along with the Mechanicum — unlike the Titan Legions and the Martian Mechanicum, where the majority went over to the traitors, here the majority of the covenants stood for Terra.

Disputed in the canon

  • In the atlas Ordo Reductor is assigned to the Mechanicum — just like Legio Cybernetica. Its only mention in the atlas’s events is the Betrayal at Ithraca, and there the Ordo is on the traitors’ side; the “Divided ranks” mark reflects the canon as a whole, not this one event.
