Plot (spoilers: moderate)
Two storylines of the I Legion: the Lion and Nemiel on the forge world of Diamat keep Horus from seizing the siege engines, while Zahariel and Luther on Caliban crush an uprising and find out what has infected their world. The destruction of Caliban comes a decade later and in another book; here is only the mechanics of the split. Read it with “Descent of Angels” if you are following the Lion’s line rather than Horus’s.

- Battle of Diamat Loyalist victory
The Dark Angels of Lion El’Jonson, with a fleet of 16 ships, struck the forge world of Diamat to deprive Horus of its production of siege weapons and Titans.
