Loyalist victory The Shattered Legions and the Imperial Fists help the Blood Angels hold Baal.

Forces of the Shattered Legions together with elements of the Imperial Fists reinforced the Blood Angels defending their home world of Baal against an invasion by the Sons of Horus and the Emperor’s Children. The joint defence drove the traitors back from the home of the IX Legion.

Significance

Preserves the Blood Angels’ homeland and the gene-seed of the IX Legion before the Siege of Terra.

Disputed in the canon

  • The record’s sole support is a chronicle line: White Dwarf 470, p. 103, “Chronicles of the Horus Heresy”. The canon has no extended description of the siege — neither the composition of the forces, nor the duration, nor the losses are set out anywhere; hence the scale of 2 out of 5 and the approximate date. The participation of the Shattered Legions and elements of the Imperial Fists is reconstructed from the Lexicanum article “Shattered Legions”.
