Inconclusive Sanguinius gathers the IX Legion and leads it into the Signus trap.

Having received from aboard the Word Bearers’ “Dark Page” Horus’s order to put down a supposed uprising, Sanguinius mustered the main forces of the Blood Angels at his home world of Baal. The Word Bearers joined the fleet, as did an unexpected detachment of Space Wolves sent by Malcador. Unaware of his brother’s treachery, the “Great Angel” led the Legion to the Signus Cluster — straight into a daemonic trap.

Significance

The prologue to Signus: the muster that doomed the Blood Angels to the Red Thirst and the Black Rage.

Disputed in the canon

  • The sources do not name the muster point explicitly; Baal is the home and heart of the IX Legion. “Nartaba” is not a muster point but a separate side objective of Azkaellon’s detachment. It precedes the Signus campaign.
