Phalanx

Stronghold: Inwit · Segmentum Tempestus

Fig. 1 · Stronghold on the map

Phalanx — the mobile fortress-monastery of the Imperial Fists, the size of a small moon, shining like a star; the largest known man-built ship, probably built in the Dark Age of Technology and found by Rogal Dorn above Inwit. In the Heresy it was the void headquarters of the VII Legion; in the Solar War it approached Luna, where its intervention saved the survivors of Sisypheum.

More

A mobile fortress-monastery of the Imperial Fists the size of a small moon — probably the largest man-built ship, by one account built in the Dark Age of Technology and found by Rogal Dorn above Inwit, by another built by Dorn himself. The VII Legion is fleet-oriented, and Phalanx served as its mobile headquarters; up to a dozen cruisers can moor on its prow deck. At the First Battle of Pluto Phalanx, with the fleet of the Imperial Fists and ships of the Imperialis Armada, arrived to rescue Sigismund, who had until then been stubbornly defending Pluto against the Alpha Legion. In the Solar War its intervention at Luna saved the survivors of Sisypheum.

Fate

Survived to the 41st millennium; badly damaged/decrepit by the Indomitus era, then restored. To this day a fortress of the Imperial Fists.
