Plot (spoilers: moderate)
The anathame wound, Davin, the Serpent Lodge and Horus’s first “yes” to the gods. The book explains the mechanism, not merely the fact of the fall: the lodges, Erebus, the humiliation of the Warmaster after the Emperor’s departure. On the map, after it the XVI Legion reads as someone else’s army in its own colours.
