Battle of Davin’s Moon

Place: Davin · Segmentum Ultima

Fig. 1 · Place on the map

Atrocity Horus triumphs but, wounded by the anathame, will fall to Chaos in the Serpent Lodge.

Quelling a Chaos-tainted revolt on the moon of Davin, the Warmaster Horus personally struck down the monstrously mutated governor Eugan Temba, but was wounded by the anathame — a xenos blade dedicated to Nurgle. Dying, he was carried to the Temple of the Serpent Lodge, where Erebus’s rituals, under the guise of healing, turned him to Chaos. Here the Heresy begins.

Significance

The one turning point that broke the Warmaster — without Davin there is no Heresy.

Disputed in the canon

  • Lexicanum and the Fandom chronicle give 004.M31; Warhammer Community marks it “~003.M31”, while the novel “False Gods” places the corruption immediately before Isstvan III (005). The wound was on the moon, the corruption (Delphos) on Davin itself.
