The Remembrancer Order is a corps of creators sent to record the Great Crusade, ratified by the Council of Terra on the petition of Solomon Voss after Ullanor; almost 4.3 million were dispatched. It was disbanded by the Edict of Dissolution in the early Heresy (the Council could not allow them to roam the civil war recording the shame of the legions). Voss and others, against orders, went to Isstvan V, where they were captured; Dorn personally executed Voss. Restored at the Siege of Terra as the seed of the Inquisition.

More
A corps of poets, journalists, imagists and documentarians, ratified by the Council of Terra on the petition of Solomon Voss after Ullanor; in the first months almost 4.3 million remembrancers were dispatched. Among them was the imagist Euphrati Keeler, who became the living “saint” of the cult of the Emperor. Fearing that the remembrancers would carry the shame of the legions across the galaxy, the Council disbanded the Order by the Edict of Dissolution in the early Heresy. Voss and others disobeyed, went to Isstvan V and were captured — Voss was personally executed by Rogal Dorn; at the Siege of Terra the Order was revived as the Order of Interrogation under the inquisitorial letter “I” — the direct seed of the future Inquisition.
Fate
Disbanded by the Edict of Dissolution in the early Heresy; restored at the Siege of Terra as the Order of Interrogation (emblem — the inquisitorial “I”) — the direct seed of the Inquisition.
