Jaghatai Khan against Mortarion (Second Battle of Prospero)

Event: Second Battle of Prospero

Place: Prospero · Segmentum Obscurus

Fig. 1 · Place on the map

Amid the ruins of Tizca, Mortarion teleported to Jaghatai Khan and tried to win him over to treason; refused, the primarchs and their retinues came to blows. The fight was almost even — the Khan was faster, but Mortarion more enduring — and for the first time in his life the Khan felt fatigue. When the fleets of the White Scars and the Death Guard clashed in space, Mortarion, realising that his mission had failed, withdrew from the fight, and the Khan set a course for Terra, his loyalty finally decided.

Outcome A drawn duel: Mortarion withdraws from the fight when his fleet fails.
