Sanguinius against Ka’Bandha · Eternity Gate (Siege of Terra)

Event: Last Stand at the Eternity Gate

Place: Terra · Segmentum Solar

Fig. 1 · Place on the map

Ka’Bandha came to the Eternity Gate for the vengeance promised on Signus: the Bloodthirster, once banished by the Angel and for that rejected by Khorne himself, challenged Sanguinius to an aerial duel above the last line of defence before the Sanctum Imperialis. The Angel accepted the fight and for a second time overcame the daemon — breaking his spine with the hilt of his sword and casting him back into the immaterium. But the victory cost dearly: exhausted and wounded, Sanguinius met his next opponent already broken, and that opponent was Angron.

Outcome Sanguinius strikes down the Bloodthirster, but comes out of the fight gravely wounded.

Participants

Disputed in the canon

  • “Echoes of Eternity” (A. Dembski-Bowden, Siege of Terra 7), 014.M31. The second and last meeting of the Angel with Ka’Bandha after Signus. The opponent is a daemon of Khorne; in the atlas he is listed among the factions rather than the characters, so only Sanguinius is named as a participant in the duel — as in the duel on Signus.
