Sanguinius

Sanguinius, “the Great Angel”, primarch of the Blood Angels, is the best-loved of the Emperor’s sons and a loyalist. He defeated the Bloodthirster Ka’Bandha on Signus, ruled as regent of Imperium Secundus, and then, alone of the triumvirate, fought his way through the Ruinstorm to Terra. On the Vengeful Spirit he faced Horus, knowing from his visions that he would die — and was slain.

Relations

  • Sanguinius — Horus Lupercalkilling

The Angel and the Warmaster. Sanguinius loved Horus and foresaw his own death at his hand. Aboard the “Vengeful Spirit” he steps out to the duel first, wounds Horus and dies — opening a window for the Emperor to strike.

Event: Death of Sanguinius · the Emperor against Horus · 014.M31 · Loyalist victory
  • Sanguinius — The Emperor of Mankindoath

The Angel at the Throne. Sanguinius is the son whom some sources name as a possible heir in Horus’s place. He holds the Eternity Gate and dies, clearing the Father’s path to the traitor son: the oath is fulfilled at the cost of his Legion and his own blood.

Event: Last Stand at the Eternity Gate · 014.M31 · Pyrrhic loyalist victory
  • Roboute Guilliman — Sanguiniusalliance

The Regent of Secundus. Guilliman makes Sanguinius emperor of Imperium Secundus, keeping for himself the role of Lord Warden. It is a political gesture of love and calculation: the Angel is legitimate, Ultramar is governable. Both understand that the construct is a heresy if Terra lives.

Event: Imperium Secundus Proclaimed · 009.M31 · Loyalist victory
