Duel · 014.M31 · The Siege of Terra
Sanguinius against Angron · Eternity Gate (Siege of Terra)
Event: Last Stand at the Eternity Gate
Place: Terra · Segmentum Solar
No sooner had the Angel finished off Ka’Bandha than Horus sent Angron to the Eternity Gate — the newly ascended daemon primarch of Khorne, leading the World Eaters to the last defensible line before the Sanctum Imperialis. The fight moved into the air and ended almost mutually: Angron spitted Sanguinius on the Black Blade, but the Angel, already impaled, reached the back of his brother’s head and tore out the Butcher’s Nails — the daemon primarch’s head burst, and Angron was cast into the immaterium. The Gate held; Sanguinius, choosing between his dying sons outside and the Emperor within, sealed the gateway.
Outcome Impaled on the Black Blade, Sanguinius tears the Butcher’s Nails from Angron and banishes him into the warp.

- “Echoes of Eternity” (A. Dembski-Bowden, Siege of Terra 7), 014.M31. Angron is banished, not killed: as a daemon primarch he returns to the warp. The fight follows directly upon the duel with Ka’Bandha in the same event — which is why both duels are tied to the Last Stand at the Eternity Gate.
