Pyrrhic loyalist victory Sanguinius breaks Ka’Bandha’s spine and banishes Angron; the Gates are sealed.
At the Eternity Gate, in an aerial duel, Sanguinius broke the spine of the Bloodthirster Ka’Bandha with the hilt of his sword. Then Angron, sent by Horus, fell upon him: pierced by the Black Blade, Sanguinius tore the Butcher’s Nails from the daemon primarch, blowing apart his head and banishing him to the warp. Together with Magnus’s defeat by Vulkan in the Webway this broke the traitors’ onslaught right at the Gates.

Canon note
- The fraction 588.014.M31 ≈ c. the 215th day of the year (roughly 200 days into the siege), not the “588th day”. The presence of the XVIII Legion at the Gate is not confirmed in the sources: Lexicanum (Siege of Terra, Last Stand at the Eternity Gate) names Sanguinius with the Blood Angels and the Custodians of Diocletian Coros here, while in these hours Vulkan is fighting Magnus in the Webway.
