Battle of the Aragna Chain · death of Meduson

Place: Aragna Chain · Segmentum Ultima

Fig. 1 · Place on the map

Traitor victory Meduson is lured into a trap, captured and beheaded; Jebez Aug withdraws from the feud.

The culmination of the cat-and-mouse game between Meduson and Marr: Marr’s fleet, twice the size, with the flagship “Lupercal Pursuivant”, lured in the Shattered Legions. Meduson mauled the enemy badly, but against the advice of the Iron-Fathers personally led a boarding action on Marr’s flagship; Jebez Aug refused to continue the vendetta and withdrew the fleet. The abandoned Meduson fell into a trap of automated flamer turrets behind closing bulkheads — was taken prisoner, brought in chains to Marr and, defiant to the end, beheaded by him.

Disputed in the canon

  • The circumstances of Meduson’s death (the flamer trap, capture, beheading by Marr) come from a single source (Lexicanum: Battle of the Aragna Chain); only the exact year is debatable (Lexicanum: “M31”; c. 011.M31 is an inference from context).
