Plot (spoilers: many)
The full arc of the III Legion from Laer to the beheading of Ferrus. It shows that “perfection” is as much an entry point for Chaos as fury or despair. Without this book Isstvan V is only a diagram of an ambush, without the reason why the Phoenician raised his blade against his brother.
Events in the book
- Cleansing of Laeran Atrocity
The 28th Expeditionary Fleet of the Emperor’s Children under Fulgrim exterminated the serpentine xenos laer on their oceanic world of Laeran, unaware that they were worshippers of Slaanesh.
- Drop Site Massacre on Isstvan V Atrocity
Terra sent seven Legions to crush Horus on Isstvan V.
