While Guilliman and Lorgar fought to exhaustion, Angron burst into the duel, bringing down a storm of blows on the lord of Ultramar. Guilliman was flung back and laid low, surviving only because the Ultramarines who arrived in time tore the primarch out of the fight. At that very moment Lorgar completed the ritual: the sky split, and the mortally wounded Angron ascended as a daemon prince of Khorne — the “Red Angel”.

Outcome Angron overcomes Guilliman; he is saved only by the intervention of the Ultramarines.

Disputed in the canon

A canonical duel of the Heresy — on Nuceria (the novel “Betrayer”). The later duel between Guilliman and the daemon primarch Angron on Thessala belongs to M42 (“Dark Imperium”) and is not part of the Heresy chronicle.
