Traitor victory Horus kills the Fabricator-Consul and seizes the lost STC data.

The already-fallen Horus contrived the destruction of the independent Auretian Technocracy, killing its Fabricator-Consul in order to seize the highly prized lost data of the Standard Template Construct. He later presented this data to Kelbor-Hal as the first of three lures of the “dark bargain”. Thus the political root of the Dark Mechanicum was sown.

Significance

The STC lure with which Horus tempted Mars — the first seed of the schism of the Mechanicum.

Disputed in the canon

  • Dated to 004.M31 by the WH40k Fandom chronology (the only precise source — hence the date is approximate). Often described simply as “before the Schism”.
