The Angel’s sacrifice
Signus, Secundus, the Eternity Gate, the deck. The IX is subtracted from the equation three times — and three times it returns not where it is expected.
Events of the theme
- The Signus Campaign · Signus Prime Pyrrhic loyalist victory
Horus lured the Blood Angels into the Signus Cluster in order to destroy them; there a trap of daemonic legions awaited them.
- Blood Angels Reach Macragge Loyalist victory
Lost in the warp after Signus, Sanguinius’s Blood Angels were guided through the Ruinstorm to Ultramar by the beam of the Pharos beacon and arrived at Macragge.
- Last Stand at the Eternity Gate Pyrrhic loyalist victory
At the Eternity Gate, in an aerial duel, Sanguinius broke the spine of the Bloodthirster Ka’Bandha with the hilt of his sword.
- Death of Sanguinius · the Emperor against Horus Loyalist victory
Horus lowered the shields of the “Vengeful Spirit”, luring the Emperor. Sanguinius reached him first — and was killed, refusing to betray the Emperor (thus the Black Rage was born).
How to look in the atlas
- Time slider 6.6 (Signus) → 8.3 (Macragge) → 14.588 (the Eternity Gate) → 14.593 (the deck).
- Rail → “Legions” → IX: the route reads as a chain of deviations, not as a path to Terra.
- Sanguinius’s dossier: the foreknowledge of his own death is the axis of the plot, not a detail.
