Mechanicum

Stronghold: Mars · Segmentum Solar

Fig. 1 · Stronghold on the map

The Mechanicum (the Machine Cult) is the tech-priest power of Mars and its forge worlds, supplier of the entire war industry of the Imperium. At the Schism of Mars (005–006.M31) it split almost in two: Fabricator Locum Zagreus Kane and the loyalists held out against Kelbor-Hal’s Dark Mechanicum and were eventually evacuated to Terra by the Imperial Fists (Sigismund) with vital material and ~12,000 suits of Mk IV armour.

The Machine Cult of Mars and its forge worlds; thousands of Skitarii, the Taghmata, the Titan Legions and Knight vassals. In the Heresy the Mechanicum split almost down the middle.

More

The military might of the Machine Cult is the Legions of Skitarii, the Collegia Titanica, the Centurio Ordinatus, the Auxilia Myrmidon, Ordo Reductor, Legio Cybernetica and Knight vassals. At the Schism of Mars scrapcode from the Vaults of Moravec burned out the planet’s communications and forges; the loyalist adepts Ipluvien Maximal and Koriel Zeth (mistress of Magma City) chose to blow up their own forges rather than hand them to the traitors. Four companies of Imperial Fists under Sigismund and Camba Diaz landed to help but were overwhelmed by the numbers of the Dark Mechanicum. The loyalist core under Fabricator Locum Zagreus Kane, with vital material and around 12,000 suits of Mk IV armour, was evacuated to Terra; after the war the Mechanicum was reborn as the Adeptus Mechanicus, and Mars was liberated in the Great Scouring.

Fate

The loyalist half, evacuated to Terra (Kane, Zeth, Maximal), survived the Heresy; after the war the Mechanicum was reformed into the Adeptus Mechanicus, and Mars was liberated in the Great Scouring.
