Loyalist victory Guilliman founds a second Imperium; Sanguinius is Imperator Regis.

With the galaxy cleaved by the Ruinstorm and no word of the Emperor, Guilliman founded a second Imperium centred on Ultramar in order to preserve the Emperor’s legacy. Sanguinius was proclaimed Imperator Regis (regent-emperor), Guilliman became Lord Warden, and the Lion, upon arrival, Lord Protector. Navigation was provided by the Pharos on Sotha.

Significance

A bold attempt to preserve the war and the Imperium in case Terra has fallen; the political backbone of the middle Heresy.

Disputed in the canon

  • Lexicanum: founded 009.M31; the coronation of Sanguinius c. 010.M31. The BL novel “The Unremembered Empire” places the founding at the arrival of Sanguinius (c. 008.M31).
