Pyrrhic loyalist victory The Ultramarines survive, but the star Veridia is poisoned; the Ruinstorm is born.
Having gathered the Ultramarines at Calth under the pretext of a campaign against the orks of Ghaslakh, the Word Bearers of Kor Phaeron and Erebus struck without warning and turned Calth’s orbital platforms against its own star, Veridia, killing it as a sacrifice to the dark gods. The poisoned star began to scorch Calth with lethal radiation, driving the survivors underground. Thus the Ruinstorm was born.
