Emperor Interred on the Golden Throne

Place: Terra · Segmentum Solar

Fig. 1 · Place on the map

Loyalist victory Dorn carries the maimed Emperor to the Golden Throne; Malcador is already dead.

The maimed Emperor, together with the body of Sanguinius and the skull of Ferrus Manus, was carried into the Palace. In the burning Throne Room, where Malcador had already faded on the Throne, Dorn bore the Emperor up the steps, and Vulkan helped to seat him on the life-sustaining Golden Throne. Loken, who had remained to guard the body of Horus, was killed by Erebus with the Anathame.

Significance

The formal end of the Horus Heresy; the Emperor’s ten-thousand-year vigil on the Throne.

Disputed in the canon

  • The Emperor’s last word is “Now” or “No” (from Dorn’s later, uncertain recollection in Ashes of the Imperium by C. Wraight); in Collected Visions he speaks, in The End and the Death he is silent.
